Google’s New Search Index Caffeine Is Now Live

Google’s new indexing infrastructure, Caffeine, was first announced in August 2009 and then in November 2009, it was launched at one of its data centers.  Finally, on 8th June 2010, Google announced the completion of its new web indexing system “Caffeine”.  According to Google, Caffeine provides 50 percent fresher results for web searches than its previous index and is the largest collection of web content that has been offered by them.

Caffeine is a big infrastructural evolution on Google’s part and claims to provide links to relevant content, whether it’s a news story, a blog or a forum post, much sooner after it is published than was possible ever before. Caffeine is live across all data centers, regions and languages and is a revamp of Google’s indexing infrastructure and not a change to its ranking algorithms.
